Our history

For over five decades, our company location has been an integral part of the Austrian steel industry. What began as a regional supplier has gradually developed into a competent partner for all steel products and their processing.

Our history is characterized by technical progress, strategic expansion, and a clear focus on customer needs.

Milestones at a glance

1967

Founded by the Kovac Group – Started with traditional steel trading activities in Graz.

2009

Relocation of technical processing to Gratkorn – expansion of laser cutting, bending, and flame cutting technology.

2012

Acquisition by the Salzgitter Mannesmann Group

2012-2016

Investments in modern flame cutting systems, crane infrastructure, and laser cutting technology (including Bystronic, Kaltenbach, Zinser).

2020-2025

Integration of high-performance TCI fiber lasers (12 & 15 kW), expansion of milling technology, digitization of warehouse processes.

2025

Acquisition by the ECCO Group.
Launch under the name Valontec GmbH.
